Here is a special message from Monica upon her release:
Your Red Rose Rescuer-- Monica Miller "checked" out of the Oakland County "Hilton" at about 1:00 am Friday morning, May 5th, after being on a jail "retreat" for 34 days -- out of a 45 day jail sentence -- unjustly imposed by Judge Cynthia Arvant.
Message from Monica:
Some may think that time in jail is simply a suffering that one must endure. But the fact is, for a pro-lifer in jail -- we continue our witness to the unborn we tried to save -- a continuing witness to the sanctity of life in this Culture of Death.
Indeed, when our fellow inmates know why we are in jail -- we receive much respect and support!
Laura Gies, my fellow RRR prisoner of conscience and I remained together the entire time I was in jail. She will be released May 18. The day we were brought into cell block F 1 on March 31st -- an inmate came up to me and said, "You don't look like the type of person who gets into trouble... what 'cha in here for anyway?"
That was the first of many opportunities to promote the cause of life -- to explain what we did and why we did it.
The jail time was filled with so many blessings -- God was working in cell block F 1. We met two women who told us that they had actually given life to their children because of pro-life sidewalk counselors who talked them out of their scheduled abortions at local Detroit-area abortion centers.
One of these women is Moneisha -- Laura Gies's cell mate -- who gave birth to that saved baby just last December. And indeed, she had scheduled her abortion at the Northland Family Planning abortion center where we did the Red Rose Rescue last April -- for which we have been sent to jail!
Pregnant again -- she was considering aborting the new baby. But Laura counseled her and talked her out of it -- and Moneisha wanted to talk about her decision when she learned why Laura was in jail!
So our pro-life efforts continue in jail! Please pray for Moneisha.
Other inmates revealed to us that they had abortions -- and this gave us opportunities to counsel them and lead them to post-abortion healing ministries.
Most of the women in jail with us are there for drug and alcohol-related issues -- 90 %. Their lives are so very broken! We had so many opportunities to listen to them, counsel them, pray with them and evangelize them too!
We started to pray the rosary in the Day Room and a good handful of other inmates joined us--and some, not even Catholic! They looked forward to praying the rosary with us--it was an incredible spiritual experience-- and I'll bet that cell block never saw anything like it!
I want to thank the very many people who supported me in my jail time! I received many letters and emails -- and so many prayers and Masses were offered.
Please, please continue those prayers and gestures of support.
As I said, Laura Gies remains in jail until May 18. Matthew Connolly is out June 6 -- and Fr. Fidelis (Christopher) Mosinski is released June 12.
